Pre-primary

Play-based learning in a garden campus with its own kitchen, outdoor classroom and a ratio that lets teachers actually know each child.

Mrs Lindiwe Jacobs
head of phase
  • Three languages from Grade 000: English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa
  • Outdoor classroom and vegetable garden
  • Aftercare to 17:30 included
  • Occupational and speech therapy screening in Grade R

The pre-primary is deliberately small. Sixteen children, one teacher, one assistant, and a garden they are allowed to dig in.

What we believe about early learning

Children learn to read when they are ready, not when the calendar says so. We teach phonics daily and pressure never. By the end of Grade R, every child is reading, most are writing, and all of them still like school.

A typical day

  1. Doors open, free play
  2. Ring time and phonics
  3. Snack, outdoor classroom
  4. Music, movement or art
  5. Home time, or lunch and aftercare

Come and see the school on a normal day

Tours run most weekday mornings at 08:30 and take about an hour. Bring your child; the visit is for them too.

Next open day: Saturday 18 October, 09:00
